Use Nearer in Claude and ChatGPT

You can plan a goal with Claude or ChatGPT, then save it to Nearer as small steps. Later, just ask the chat for your next step, and tell it when you’ve finished. Nearer keeps your place, and the same steps are waiting in the Nearer app.

Before you start

You need a Nearer account. If you don’t have one yet, you can create one while connecting, and it starts with a free 7-day trial. No card is needed.

Connect Nearer to Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize and find Nearer in the directory, then choose Connect.
  2. Or add it yourself: choose Add custom connector and paste https://nearer.io/mcp.
  3. Sign in to Nearer when asked, then choose Connect on the Nearer screen.

Connect Nearer to ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open the plugins directory and search for Nearer, then choose to add it.
  2. Sign in to Nearer when asked, then choose Connect on the Nearer screen.

Things you can ask

  • Help me break down “open my online print shop” and save it to Nearer.
  • What’s my next step in Nearer?
  • I’ve done that one. What’s next?
  • That step feels too big. Break it into smaller steps.
  • Which goals do I have in Nearer, and how far along am I?

What it can do

Save a goal as small steps
Saves the steps you planned in the chat as a new Nearer list.
Get the next step
Shows the one step to do now, going into smaller steps where you broke one apart.
Mark a step done
Ticks it off. If it was the last small step inside a bigger one, the bigger one is done too.
Break a step into smaller steps
Adds smaller steps inside a step that still feels too big.
List goals and task lists
Shows your task lists and how many steps are done.

It can’t delete anything, and it only works with your task lists, not your routines or flashcards.

Your privacy, and how to disconnect

When you ask about your steps, their text is sent to the assistant you connected. We don’t keep your chat. To stop it at any time, go to Settings in Nearer, find Connected assistants, and choose Disconnect. The full details are in our privacy policy.
